Why does birth time matter?
Learn how birth time affects the ascendant and house layout in a Vedic birth chart.
The chart changes with time
The sky's apparent positions continue to move. A birth time helps place those positions at the right moment, while the birth location supplies the local horizon and time-zone context.
The ascendant and houses
The ascendant can change over the course of a day, and the house layout follows from it. That is why even a modest time difference can change parts of a chart reading, especially when a placement is close to a boundary.
When the time is uncertain
Use the most reliable record available and mark an estimate as approximate when the app offers that option. Do not treat a reading based on an uncertain time as precise. If the time is unknown, the app should explain any limits that apply to the chart.
